A weather proverb blames intense dawn for bringing in some really bad weather. We experienced exactly that on our ascend to Obergabelhorn, 4’063m / 13.330ft. As morning hours went by, a large low-pressure system (simply put: storm) supplied steady and harsh winds. We decided to cancel the rest of the ascend ahead of Wellenkuppe, 3’909m / 12.805ft. However, the mountain trip rewarded us with the fantastic chance to capture some really nice images of a rather rare weather experience. We will return.
All presented images have been made while ascending the summit of Wellenkuppe from Triftgletscher and from the snow covered saddle where the climb to the summit of Wellenkuppe starts. Some of these pictures are offered rights managed.
